America-A Symbol Of Exploration Through-------Time

Through the years America has explored many frontiers. Explorations  of space and ocean are two new frontiers. In 1969, three brave American men became the first people on the moon, but we still have much to discover about space. The ocean also has many secrets and many resources we have not discovered.

America has great technology to use in exploring the unknown. For oceans we have submarines; for space we have shuttles and Saturn V1 rockets. We have learned about our world and our solar system that surrounds us, but we still have a lot to learn.

Our future‘s destiny may be to live on other planets if we do not stop polluting our home planet, Earth. The possibilities of us actually living on another planet are very slim. It would take millions of years for Venus to cool down.  Terraforming, which takes hundreds of years, is our only way of getting rid of the harmful Venus gases .

Saturn is too far away from the inner planets. Uranus is tilted to0 much and I think mankind could never get used to the seasons. Neptune is far to0 windy and cold.

Pluto is too cold ,too far, and has the most elliptical orbit of all of the planets. Mercury has no atmosphere and is simply to0 hostile for people to live there. Jupiter is too hot, has too much pressure, and has to0 much hydrogen and helium.  The same goes for the other gas giants.

Mars is the best hope for mankind to live on if earth becomes polluted and uninhabitable. Mars is sometimes called Earth’s little brother. Mars has canyons and mountains similar to Earth and Mars has polar caps that we can melt to make the atmosphere thicker.

America’s curiosity has brought us to explore our planet and our surroundings: forever learning and forever building a better FUTURE!!

        DIVERSITY

                              Author: Holly, fifth grade student

Diversity is different individuals valuing each other regardless of skin, intellect ,talents or years.

I feel that students of the world should not hurt other students' feelings. Students every day get called racial names that embarrass them or hurt them. Everybody needs to take time to think and realize how that person feels when hurt.

For example ------ A pupil from Africa moves to Asia. The African student dresses and acts differently from his Asian classmates. The Asian students pick on him for his way of dressing and culture. Now how do you think the African feels?

People are picked on because of their intelligence. If you are intelligent and, because of jealousy, someone may call you names and say untrue things about you. You can feel good about yourself because it means you’re real smart.

Some people out there have special talents - like back flipping, playing the piano, or swimming. Today people may tease them just because they are real jealous. Do not mind them because they are people just like you! It is not your problem; it is their problem.

Please do not hurt the feelings of your elders. You need to RESPECT your elders! Your elders were put on earth to raise and to teach you; they are not here for you to yell at. Don’t tell them that they have to quit working because of their age. They’re trying to make a living.

Please remember everything you have read in this essay. You never know when someone may treat you just like you have been treating others.

Diversity is the spice of life. We are a nation of diversity and we must respect all people regardless of culture, intellect, or age. Only then can we live in peace.

                              USA IS FREEDOM

Author: Jessica, fifth grade student

Editor: Ashley, fifth grade student

The best thing, to me, in the USA is freedom. Most Americans want Freedom more than anything else. What does Freedom mean? The Dictionary defines Freedom as  not controlled or influenced by any power that one doesn’t choose. For instance in America we have Freedom of Speech, which means we are free to talk about our beliefs and opinions without fear of punishment.

In our country there is also Religious Freedom.   For instance, in America we have a chance to choose which religion we believe in. All Americans also have the right to go to the church they want to when they want too. Everyone in the USA. even foreigners that come to America,  get to choose their religion. That is America’s Religious Freedom!

There is also "Living" Freedom. For instance, everyone that is living has the right to stay alive. In this process people can not kill or harm other people. If people do so, it is possible they may lose their freedom or will be executed by the law. In America we are all able to have Freedom: Freedom of Speech, Religious Freedom, and Living Freedom.

America is Love............

Authors and Editors: Jamie and Diandria

What do you think about when you think about Freedom? Joy? Or Peace?

We think about love. Love is an action word. Many people show love in the USA.

We show love for our community through: not polluting the environment and keeping our community clean, through volunteering to help out around the community, and helping the needy and poor. We can help the elderly by cleaning up their houses and yards, planting a vegetable garden in the spring, raking leaves in the fall, and chopping wood for a hot fire, and taking them things to keep their bodies warm.

We can show love for friends through not talking about them behind their backs, through not just pretending to be their friend, and by sharing with them. (Even though they might be annoying, stick with them to the very end.)

The USA is like the word love because it has people everywhere who love one another. We have many opportunities to show love for everyone and everything that lives in the United States of America { even though I’m allergic to cats.}
